Patterns:
I found many patterns when I was observing and interviewing hunters. One pattern was after, the hunters I interviewed, got their animal they would gut, skin it, and eat it. Another pattern was they all enjoyed being outdoors, and they all enjoy shooting. A huge pattern I saw was hunters will not give away information about where they hunt at. They would only tell me the mountains. I also saw that hunters can tell the difference in taste in store bought meat and meat that they killed.
Assumptions:
Some assumptions I had about hunters is they don’t really like animals because they like killing them. I assumed that they enjoy shooting guns, they like the outdoors, they are early risers, they aren’t vegetarians. They don’t like store bought meat, they like camouflage, they are bulky, they are quiet, and most of them seem to be guys.
I found some of these assumptions true and some false. I found that hunters don't hunt just to kill animals, they do it for a purpose. Hunters don't like camouflage necessarily, they just wear for better chances when hunting. The things I found true were that hunters do like the outdoors, they aren't vegetarians, they do enjoy shooting guns and most hunters seem to be guys. And some assumptions just depend on the hunter, like if they are bulky or quiet.
Obstacles:
The only obstacle I ran into was when I was observing, we didn't kill anything. I was hoping we would so I could see the reaction of the hunters after they caught their animal and what they do with the animal after they get it.
My group was not hard to observe at all. I got to go hunting with my family which was not only enjoyable, but very comfortable and easy to do.
Changed Perspective:
My perspective has changed greatly on hunters. I used to think they were very cruel people to be so excited to go out and kill animals but now I think differently. I have realized that hunting isn't necessarily a bad thing. To some it is, but really for the world it isn't. I found out, that if there are too many deer, then in the winter, they are unable to find food. This causes them to get diseases, which can quickly spread throughout an area, especially in ways like eating farmers crops. Also, as we all know, many deer can cause traffic accidents.
